Description: The viewpoint is also called Gentle Annie Hill. It may have been the place where a downstream traveller first saw the sea – hence the name Aramoana (pathway to the sea).
With a length of 290 km, the Whanganui is the country's third-longest river. The river rises on the northern slopes of Mount Tongariro.
