Description: Lake Wakatipu is a long thin Z-shaped lake. It is with a length of 80 kilometres New Zealand's longest lake, and, at 291 km2, its third largest. The lake is also very deep, a depth of between 378 metres and 420 metres making it New Zealand's third or forth deepest lake.
Around an inlet called Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu is a resort town Queenstown with spectacular views of nearby mountains.
